Separate cancellation from delay
Define when a short delay becomes a postponement and when a postponement is treated as cancellation.
State the notice method and the person authorized to make that decision.
Account for work and capacity
Explain payment for completed work, non-cancellable costs, reserved capacity, and any deposit treatment.
Terms should reflect applicable law and the actual loss or work involved. Obtain advice for material arrangements.
Define handoff and restart
State which completed files are delivered and when. Clarify the status of unfinished work and third-party licenses.
A restarted project may need a new schedule, updated estimate, and remobilization fee based on current availability.
